Brian and I have spent a lot of time on line and via YouTube really trying to learn more about our Nikon D3300 camera and the best way to use them. We want to be proficient in the manual mode so that we can share some amazing photos with you as we continue on our journey over the next year and through our move to Guatemala and any other world travels we embark upon. After not being able to connect with the camera shop in Fenton and being sick for our first scheduled appointment with Danen Williams in downtown Flint, we finally made it.
Danen Williams photography is in a wonderful loft above the Rhema Cafe in Flint MI. I loved it and especially the amazing view of the city. It make Flint look alive. Danen is a soft spoken man that makes learning photography fun. He will give to you whatever you are willing to pull out of him. He really seems to enjoy the fact that you are enjoying learning this trade. We have already figured out by now that ISO, shutter speed and aperture are the most important things to start with for obtaining your best photos. He really helped bring this together for me as far as the relationship between the three. He simplified the process for me so that I could quickly and easily adjust my settings depending on where and what I want to shoot.
A few things that I have changed on my camera, I am no longer in Auto White Balance mode and I am shooting all my photos in RAW. I cam copy some over into jpg for the purposed of sharing them on computer, phones etc. but I will always have the RAW original for future editing and that maintains all the data of the photo. I have only played with editing a little bit, but I can really see how learning to do it well will complete the whole package of this new found hobby for me.
I will put together all my practice photos on my photo page and I will attempt to get Brian's photos posted soon too. It was fun having him there with me and learning with me. I really am hoping to get his thoughts and idea here for you soon. He really doesn't care about this as much as I do. Anyway, I will post below one or two of my favorites from last night's real lesson and post the rest on my practice page.
I am embarking on a new hobby with my husband. An interest I had as a child has recently been reignited. This blog is an outline of my journey as I learn the skill of photography and maintaining a journal through photo and video medium.
