So much has happened since I last posted to this blog. The last time I was here was Jan. 13th and that is too long between posts. At that time I did not have my new Nikon 50mm lens or my latest and greatest my new Tamron 150mm-600mm lens. We have also been going a bit crazy with equipment but it sure is fun.
After waiting two weeks from the time my 50mm lens came in to the time I had a clear night sky to attempt some start pictures, I discovered I needed a better and bigger tripod. As a matter of fact all three of us needed taller tripods. Brian and Selena and I were out on the back patio each with our camera and tripod and practically on our knees as we are all attempting our night time sky photos. We solved that problem. Brian and I purchased new tripods and we gave Selena one of ours that was taller than her. Now we are ready for the next clear night.
My ultimate goal though is not night sky photos, I want to shoot birds. I have a 70-300mm lens but I really wanted something more. Found the Tamron 150-600mm with pretty decent reviews. I struggled for a bit between that one and the Sigma 150-500 or Sigma 50-500. After much deliberation and watching YouTube videos and reading articles and reviews, I chose the Tamron. It just came in yesterday so I haven't had a lot of time. It is so cold out and so few "fun" birds right now that my only attempts at birds was this morning. I have one hawk in flight, not a good shot. I have some pigeons on a wire and a couple of shot where there is a bit of a take off.
Surprisingly, my coolest photos so far are the morning moon shots I go with the Tamron. I will be posting them in my "Deb's Pics" folder if you want to check them out. These are not edited at all, except two of them did have a small exposure edit.
Brian purchased for himself a 90mm Macro lens. Now he want a ring light so that he can really see the detail when he is taking his macro photos. I will have to get some of his photos from him and load to his page. He hasn't had as much time as I have so he doesn't have as many photos. Once again though, the best thing about this, is that it is something we are enjoying together.
I am embarking on a new hobby with my husband. An interest I had as a child has recently been reignited. This blog is an outline of my journey as I learn the skill of photography and maintaining a journal through photo and video medium.
