As you all have figured out by now, I have ordered for myself a used Nikon D3300 via eBay. I think I got a great deal and the seller packaged it up and sent it right away. Unfortunately during this holiday rush, the mail has been less than stellar. I have been diligently keeping an eye on the tracking of my package, not unlike a child tracking Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
So today, when I checked the location of my package, I was so excited to see that it was at the post office and just waiting to be put on a truck for delivery tomorrow. Why on earth would I wait until tomorrow, I'll just help them out and go pick it up myself today...or so I thought. After an agonizingly slow entrance into the very busy post office and finding a parking space, I entered to what seemed a mile long line. Tis the season and all that, people with cards and packages coming and going. I resigned myself to standing in line and making the best of it. I smiled and talked with others and made sure not to complain. What would it accomplish anyway? Everyone in line seemed to be in pretty good spirits overall and that made the wait so much easier.
After standing and chatting for probably 1/2 an hour or better, a young lady appeared and asked if there was anyone with non monetary transactions, you know, just picking up a package. Me!! This is it, the moment I get my camera. I showed her my tracking number. She asked for my ID. No problem, as I was taking it out of my wallet, I happened to comment on how I was saving them the delivery. That's when the enemy tried to steal my joy. She explained that if the package was set to go our for delivery on a truck tomorrow, she would have no way of knowing where in the building it was for a in person pick up. There are packages everywhere and they are all sorting and stacking etc. according to delivery type and such. Only packaged intended for pick up at the post office could be picked up.
I could have left entirely deflated. But I knew in my heart, this was a possibility and I was already planning receiving my camera on Tuesday. To get it today, Monday, would merely have been a bonus. In some ways, this actually makes it more fun. The anticipation of my new "toy" is just killing me. I haven't felt like this about a new "thing" in such a long time. It puts a smile on my face just to type this into my blog. Alas, I will have to survive another day. Now, if the mail carrier doesn't get bogged down tomorrow, I'll be all set. The other thing is, the mail has been coming later and later in the evening. So tomorrow night is going to be the unboxing and the unveiling. I'll be sure to get pictures and maybe even a video.
In the mean time, I'll post a picture of the auction item I won via eBay. This is the package photo that the seller posted. I think I'll always be a child at heart.
I am embarking on a new hobby with my husband. An interest I had as a child has recently been reignited. This blog is an outline of my journey as I learn the skill of photography and maintaining a journal through photo and video medium.
